November Cricut Club

The above photo is etched. I used the word "cherish." You can also see how I used the additional embellishments.
The above photo is the picture I placed in the far left frame spot. I used the additional paper to "journal."

The above picture is the picture I put in the middle. I also used extra cardstock to "journal" at the top of the photo.

This is another view of what the etched glass looks like.

This is what the whole frame looks like! Enjoy!

Hello ladies!
As of yesterday, the October Cricut Club is full, and since Novembers Cricut Club is pretty special, I'm assuming that it will fill up quickly!
We will be etching glass in this class. You get a frame that has 3 slots in it that you can decorate as you please!
I have included some pictures to show you what I created, and I will give you enough supplies to do the same. Included in the fee is the frame, vinyl to make the glass etch stencil, paper, cardstock, brads and florals. You will also get to use the etching creme to etch your frame! You can also use any cartridge that Memories on Fifth has in the store!
Enjoy!

Cricut Club Update!

Hello everyone!
I just thought I'd update you guys on what I am thinking about doing for some upcoming Cricut classes! (I am now branching out, and not doing just Cricut classes, anymore, so be sure to check those out, too!)
For November:
Glass Etching with the Cricut. I have made the adorable frame for this class, and I love it! I am so excited about this class because it is super easy, a lot of fun, and you come out with a great product! Hopefully there will be a picture up tomorrow of what I will have you guys make!
(This isn't the Cricut Club) A Flower Soft Christmas. Some of you took the intro to Flower Soft class, and while I liked the cards that I had you guys make, I LOVE the Christmas cards. I swear, Flower Soft was invented to embellish Christmas cards! The trees look very realistic, and the Polar White Flower Soft makes things look like real, glistening snow! Be sure to watch for that class!

For December:
I originally was going to have you guys make 6 titles for your pages, but I have been doing a lot of different things for the Cricut Club, and I think that a good way to end the year would be with a lovely page to put your Christmas or winter-themed pages! So, I am having you guys experiment with a great Cricut Solutions Christmas cartridge and make a "Winter Solstice" page. When I get that done there will be pictures as well!
(This isn't the Cricut Club) I will be teaching you guys how to make Acrylic Cards! They are winter themed, and I am looking into etching them or embossing them for some extra pizzaz! Be sure to check the store out for samples. I always, always, always have samples for my class up pretty early!

For the upcoming year (2010):
You guys will get to learn how to make those 6 "stackable" titles for your pages!
I want to experiment/learn how to work with Design Studio, and show you guys how to use it.
Talking about/showing off new additions for the Cricut, such as the much anticipated "Gypsy."
A recipe book!!!! Fun!!
Making stencils for your home decor.
And other things to play with such as fun cartridges, different techniques, using new product with the Cricut, etc.

Feel free to e-mail me with any questions, and let me know what you think! Feedback is greatly appreciated!

Halloween Treat Bucket

On October 20th, I'll be teaching you guys how to make this adorable Treat Bucket!
One of my favorite things about this class is that it introduces a lot of fun, new product, which we all love!! Right?!
Another great aspect of this class is that to relieve some stress from the students, I am pre-cutting some of the die-cuts out for you guys. You will be cutting out various circles, and 2 die-cuts.
My main focus for this class is to show you guys the millions and billions of options that you have with EACH cartridge! Don't just look at what's on the back. Really explore your cartridges. You won't believe where I got all of the halloween die-cuts... I got them from Paper Dolls! Crazy! You have to really experiment with the different features of your cartridges, play with all the options and see what it has to offer. That's my emphasis this time.
I hope you like it! I used 4 different kinds of ribbon that are absolutely sooo so much fun! I also used coredinations cardstock, a lot of Bazzil Bling, some buttons, rain drops and Stickels! I love, love love this bucket!
Just a reminder, if you guys could bring your basic supply kit to the class, that would be awesome! It should include some adhesive (liquid adhesive is what I'm reccomending for the bucket), a paper cutter, and your Cricut along with the George and Basic Shapes cartridge.

There are currently 3 spots available to take this class! Let's get those filled up!! Be sure to call Memories on 5th to sign up today!

Thanks so much, ladies!

Vinyl Follow Up

Hello everyone!
I'm just following up after a great class! There were 11 ladies total tonight! And, might I add this was a very fun class. Everyone got along great, threw around a lot of ideas, got a lot of tips, and just in general had a good time! There were so many great ladies there tonight, and I had a lot of fun! It made me want to keep teaching things about the Cricut.
Just to make a quick note here, I'm sorry that we didn't get to cut anything out tonight, but with something as intricate as putting vinyl on a wall, there's just either no time to cut things out and get a demonstration, or it's just something that needs to be done elsewhere. Like I said early in the class, you guys unfortunately can't chop off your wall and bring it to class! So, there may be a few classes where it will be more of a demonstration, and you guys get product and step by step instructions. Otherwise, most of the time we will be cutting things out. But, we will always be having fun!
I'd like to thank you all for coming, putting your input in, and being a great group of ladies to work with!
As always, please e-mail me or call me if you ever have any questions! I'm more than willing to help: I can always answer your questions via phone or e-mail, and I can always meet you at the store and even sit down with you and get all your questions answered and even do a further demonstration if need be. I want you all to be comfortable with your Cricut and I want you all to be satisfied with the creations you make while using your Cricut.
I have talked about this several times, but I would love feedback, as always! I have some ideas of what to do for further Cricut Clubs, and what I would like to do is in November teach you guys how to etch glass, in December I would like to show you guys how to make "stackable" page titles, in January I'm considering showing you guys how to make your own plastic stencils to use to paint things on your wall, or other various things. In February I would love to do something really fun! I would love, love love to show you guys different features of the AMAZING cartride Bags, Tags, Boxes and More. I also have some other various ideas, and one class I would love to show you guys how to use the Design Studio. But, I definately have to try this product out for myself and do some further research before I'm able to teach a class in it!
I'd love to hear from you guys what you would like to learn!
Thanks again for signing up to take the Cricut Club Classes! They're a lot of fun!! :)
ALSO: I'd like to mention to you that these classes DO fill up... FAST! Even if one of the ladies says that the class is full.. MAKE SURE YOU GIVE THEM YOUR NAME AND INFORMATION! If we have enough people, we will set up another date for me to teach the same class. Plus, if there is a cancellation, then you will get to fill in that spot. So, sign up even if it's full, and be sure to sign up ASAP!
Thanks again!

Update!

Oh my goodness! I don't even know what to say! Last nights class was amazing! It went fabulous! I have developed a system where there are instructions, and even some cheat sheets for my students, which seemed to work out beautifully!
Everyone left with a finished page!
It was a great class, and if you missed out, I'm truly sorry! There were a lot of ideas flowing, I got great feedback from all of my students, we had fun, we got some work done, got great ideas, and learned more about the Cricut!
And.... My very favorite part: everyone did something a little different to their pages! Oh my! I love, love, love it when people do different things to their pages other than what's layed out in front of them! It makes for a great time, and a great class! With all the creativity flowing, it really makes it an enjoyable class.
I would like to thank my students who promote not only my creativity, but give me great ideas as what to teach and what to do next.
As for what I have planned:
How to apply vinyl quotes to your walls
An ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE Halloween treat bucket
Etching glass with the Cricut
Getting 6 titles for $15.00 (just like the Karen Foster stacked titles)
Making pillow boxes and other fun things with the cricut

Thank you all sooo so much for letting me know what I need to do, letting me know how I can better help you all, and giving me great feedback and amazing ideas!
Keep posted for pictures and further class descriptions. :)

With florals, and an innovative opaline pearl line from Basic Grey along with cute paper, cute letter stickers, and the help of the Cricut Die Cut Machine, this layout will go great with your collection.

This time, along with the class, each member will get a little packet of papers with very helpful tips on how to use the Cricut and what each feature is designed to help you do. I have taken a lot of time to make sure to be thorough with instuctions, sizes, pressure, blade, and speed gages, and other various things to help new users find the Cricut a little less overwhelming and stressful.
Thanks so much everyone!

Fun on the Fourth Follow Up

Hello everyone!
On Tuesday I had the Fun on the Fourth class. I was happy to have done it to know what I as an instructor needs to improve on to help others understand the cricut and how to use it to their advantage.
So, I have further instructions for those of you who didn't get quite finished, and I will also be posting pictures of the August layout. This one is a bit easier, and I am printing off charts with things such as helpful tips on how to use the Cricut as we speak! So, hopefully that will make it a bit easier on you guys next time!
I hope you guys had a good time, and if you're a little stressed out about using the Cricut, don't fret because I have more information for you all that should help you out a lot next time. :)
Thanks to all who came and thanks for helping me learn what I need to do next!
FOR COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS: I have complete instructions on how to make the Fun on the Fourth pages all typed up, however Blogger does not allow copying and pasting items into a blog post. So, all you have to do if you want them is e-mail me at: ashleymahanna19@aol.com and I will e-mail you the complete instructions as soon as I receive your e-mail.
Sorry that this post is late, but as some of you know, I work more than full time. :)
Have a great night (or day) everyone!

Cricut Club Kickoff!

Hello hello!

My name is Ashley Mahanna, and I will be the instructor for the Cricut Club starting in July of 2009 at Memories on Fifth in Coralville, IA.

As a member of the Cricut Club, you get to partake in the class that we offer for that theme for the month, for example our first Cricut Club class will be in July, so the corresponding theme is Fourth of July. We talk about the Cricut Cutting system, and it's newest/latest and greatest features, we answer questions, and I'm planning on having a good time!

This is my first post for the Cricut Club, and as it hasn't started yet, I don't have all of the information. But, be prepared for some cute page layouts using the cricut coming up!
I will definately keep everyone posted as to any updates I get, and as soon as I'm done with the pages planned for the July class, I'll put those up along with class information!

Thanks so much!

Keep checking!
